Why Bamboo?

I have recently had the question asked why bamboo and thought I would answer it.

Bamboo is softer than the softest cotton, Bamboo fabric has a natural sheen to the surface and feels similar to cashmere.The fabric absorbs water 3-4 times better than cotton, keeping skin comfortable, rather than sticky, in hot weather.
Bamboo apparel is thermal regulating, odor resistant, anti-static and will keep you cooler and drier in the heat of summer and warmer in cold temperatures.

Bamboo, a renewable resource, is grown without using pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Bamboo is one of the world's most prolific and fastest-growing plants, and is able to reach maturity in about four years, compared to the typical 25 to 70 years for commercial tree species in the U.S. Though most people are generally familiar with this beautiful and graceful plant, the average person is usually astounded when learning that there are more than 1000 documented uses of bamboo.

Bamboo is nature's most sustainable resource and is naturally regenerative. Bamboo is actually a tropical grass, with an extensive root system that sends out an average of four to six new shoots per year, naturally replenishing itself and growing to heights of 60 feet or more.

In Asia, bamboo has been used in the traditional hand-made production of paper for centuries. Now, through modern manufacturing processes, bamboo pulp is capable of producing viscose from bamboo for use in yarn and fabric. Certain species of bamboo have the tensile strength equivalent to that of steel.

Are you ready for February?

There is much to celebrate during the next month, not only for it being the month of Valentine’s Day but because it is a month before the transitioning from winter to spring. Coat Drive

Milk Money’s, A Better Cause, sets forward its annual coat drive this year to help out the less unfortunate citizens of our community; so let’s keep in mind all those that are catching the worst of Christmas this year and get in the holiday spirit of giving! From now until the end of January we will be collecting any new or gently used coats for the Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte. Along with coats, of course we will also accept any hats, mittens, scarves, or beanies. Anything and everything is seen as a blessing, in the eyes of those whom struggle to keep warm in this time of the year. Since Milk Money is an expert boutique for children’s’ fashions, we know all about keeping your child warm and adorned as soon as their born! So, again we ask you to celebrate this winter with our community, as we can all share in a little bit of warmth, in heart, spirit, fingers and toes! Come and be a part of A Better Cause, one that has been performing year after year since its initial start in 1991 to aid in the support of the organization for U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. It is a well established and non-profit charity fundraiser which shares its goal with those whom emphasize with the handfuls of needy children going through the holiday season with little or no help at all to receive from others. Charlotte, North Carolina- Milk Money Children’s Boutique announced today that it is hosting a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls™ Inc., the international footwear charity that delivers shoes to needy people around the world.
During the shoe drive, Milk Money will be offering a $5 discount to all customers who bring in gently worn pairs of shoes toward the effort. The shoe drive will begin on August 1, 2009 and will end on August 30, 2009. Milk Money's Laugh Out Loud Fashion and Trunk Show

Milk Money Boutique’s and Laughing Out Louds trunk and fashion show fundraiser for Soles4Souls.

Boston, MA (August 8, 2009)—Though just kicking off its second season in business, local children’s apparel company Laughing Out Loud Kids is making an effort to give back by holding a trunk show and Fashion Show on August 8 to support our Milk Money Boutique and it’s effort to raise money donations for Soles for Souls. Popular children's boutique Milk Money will host a showing of designer Mila Cole's
latest fashions.

"From the start, we wanted to find a way to help others through our own business success," Cole says. Soles4Souls, whose mission is to provide gently worn shoes for people in need due to a natural disaster or who are living in poverty is the perfect way for us to help children who are in need. “Our friends at Milk Money suggested the idea of coming together to put on an event to help bring awareness to this cause and we are very pleased that we were asked to be a part of this”.

The trunk show, will last all week from the August 8th -15th and will kick off with a Fall fashion show and party on August 8th from 1:30 – 4pm at Milk Money Boutique 9601 Brookdale Dr. St 300 Charlotte, NC 28215 and will feature looks from Laughing Out Loud's Fall ‘09 collection for girls and boys 0 to 12 years old.
