Ready for Ruffles?

Fall is not only bringing in new shades of hue to prepare for the upcoming season, but is already making way for a new and innovative look torn straight from the hottest runways right to your nearest children's boutique. To kick off a new series of the latest fads, this autumn features the stunning yet cunning ruffled look.
As seen in popular magazines, such as Elle, whether it's creating an elegant ripple effect on an evening gown or helping a pair of pumps posh up the party scene. Ruffles are taking the scene by storm. But undeniably, ruffles are to be both adored and adorned on your little boy or girl this time around. And who better to upgrade your child's closet than right here in Milk Money where we are carrying all of fall's latest looks in fashion. We carry name brand items such as Biscotti, Alexandria Couture, and Kate Mack; any and all apparels to give your child's wardrobe an instant seasonal makeover.
Our new collections are comprised with clothes that will big show the ruffles phenomena. And why not adopt this enveloping change of trends to a more trusted and timeless look? For ruffles have not only the look of popularity and charm but carry with it, its historical signature. Seen in classic paintings by Drouais and Vigee, these portraits which help detail the significance of ruffles, are dated back to the eighteenth century. Layering in design of dress has ben worn by cultivated queens and kings such as King Louis-Auguste and fashion engine the Duchess of Devonshire.
At Milk Money, we hold Laughing Out Loud's festive line of clothing for children, throwing on a hint of holiday ruffles with their new collection. And Tralala masters the art of layering on their designer evening outfits for young girls. To escort the high fashion is also Lemon Loves Lime with their series of vibrant and electrifying coats for fall and winter; embroidered at the bottom, decorative ruffles tastefully flared out. This Lemon Loves Lime coat is a sure fit that will add confidence and character to your kid; and with it, even has a finishing finale of ruffled beanies to match!
So come and be apart of a royal trend that has been fashionable for centuries. Add that special touch of class to your child's occassional wear. Whatever your personal style, with ruffles or without, Milk Money is sure to have in store just the piece you're looking for!

Milk Money's Laugh Out Loud Fashion and Trunk Show

Milk Money Boutique’s and Laughing Out Louds trunk and fashion show fundraiser for Soles4Souls.

Boston, MA (August 8, 2009)—Though just kicking off its second season in business, local children’s apparel company Laughing Out Loud Kids is making an effort to give back by holding a trunk show and Fashion Show on August 8 to support our Milk Money Boutique and it’s effort to raise money donations for Soles for Souls. Popular children's boutique Milk Money will host a showing of designer Mila Cole's
latest fashions.

"From the start, we wanted to find a way to help others through our own business success," Cole says. Soles4Souls, whose mission is to provide gently worn shoes for people in need due to a natural disaster or who are living in poverty is the perfect way for us to help children who are in need. “Our friends at Milk Money suggested the idea of coming together to put on an event to help bring awareness to this cause and we are very pleased that we were asked to be a part of this”.

The trunk show, will last all week from the August 8th -15th and will kick off with a Fall fashion show and party on August 8th from 1:30 – 4pm at Milk Money Boutique 9601 Brookdale Dr. St 300 Charlotte, NC 28215 and will feature looks from Laughing Out Loud's Fall ‘09 collection for girls and boys 0 to 12 years old. Parents will find whimsical, striped one-pieces for babies as well as fun playwear for older kids—from colorful pants and polos for little men to fanciful dresses for dancers-in training, such as the popular multi-tiered Charleston style. According to Cole,"Kids love our soft, comfortable fabrics and swingy silhouettes, and moms are happy to find high-quality apparel that holds up over time."

Milk Money with the help of the Laughing Out Loud event will make a contribution to Soles4Souls that help support the charity's service in poor communities and people in need around the world. "We believe Milk Money shoppers will be thrilled to find fantastic children's clothes at top value while also contributing to this wonderful cause," Cole says.

How much hotter can it get this summer?

As the summer heats up so is children's fashion. People are increasingly conscientious about spending more on upscale items, they expect more embellishments. Patches, appliqués, netting under skirts, multi-layers, and leggings are all stylish ways to turn your child into a trend setter. Many agree that bright colors are the thing to have this summer. There is a growing trend towards embellishments and high retro style. “Grosgrain ribbon trim for girls is everywhere from headbands to flip flops. The boys are sporting longer shorts and vintage looking t-shirts that have the worn and faded look.”
If having a completely upscale wardrobe just isn’t in the budget these days, up your kid’s style with accessories. Milk Money offers less expensive accessories such as hair bows, headbands, and flip flops that can increase the fashion quotient of any outfit.
In this economy, it may be just as tempting to hit the spring consignment sales around town but I caution against it. Less expensive, and typically lower quality clothing, often wears out more quickly and does not wash as well.
If you are selective and spend a little more on items you absolutely love and are higher quality, you know you will get lots of use out of them and end up getting your money’s worth. If not, you could end up with a closet full of clothes that cost you the same amount or more and you wind up throwing them away at summer's end.
My clients choose to buy all new, high quality items because, they can re-sell them on Ebay and get most of their money back.

Is green the new trend?

According to Baby Shop Magazine Organic cotton children's clothes now are coming into their own. Organic, once only in the lingo of the crunchiest granola eaters, is now synonymous with quality.

Consider the following from a recent Yanklovich Clancy Schulman study: 78% of people are 'influenced greatly' to purchase a product based on environmental claims. 25% of Americans will buy organic products this year. Consider the appeal of natural food: organic and natural food have experienced a consistent 18-25% growth rate every year for the last fifteen years, compared with a flat 3-4% growth for conventional foods.

Organic equals quality.Organic Cotton has been spotted on the tikes of the icons that set the trends. Jon Bon Jovi chose organic for his new baby, Jacob. He joins Vanessa Williams, Catherine Deneuve, Sandra Bullock, Alicia Silverstone, and US Poet Laureate, Toni Morisson, as fans of organic cotton baby clothes.
For these customers who can choose anything for their children or their gifts, is it the environmental aspect? Perhaps. Organic cotton is grown without the use of any chemical pesticides or herbicides. Compare it to conventional cotton, which is the second most pesticide laden crop in the world (after coffee). In the US alone, cotton utilizes more than 800 million pounds of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. It takes ½ pound of chemicals to grow enough conventional cotton for an adult t-shirt.
With organic, you're not going to find it at an off price or knocked off by Target, which is an added bonus. Thoughts about quality include where it was made and what it comes from.

At Milk Money we offer two distinct lines in organic clothing Angel Dear, and Baby Lulu. Our organic clothing is fashionable and affordable. We also carry Mi Yim soft plush toys in organic and well as a Earth Mama Angel Baby skin and wellness products. We sell Fleuville diaper bags which are made out of recycleable water bottles. Don't forget about our shoe selection Pedoodles and Birki's both use recycled materials for their boxes. Check us out on the web at www.milkmoneyboutique.com and click on organics or visit us soon.

What will your choice be?
